What we did
The brief
Vidlers has stocked surf, swim, skate and lifestyle brands in WA since 1982. It brought us in for six months to wake up its social media and help shape a new website.
The work
Surf retail sells a lifestyle, and the brands Vidlers stocks, Billabong, Roxy and Rip Curl among them, already shoot beautiful imagery. We used that supplier content to show product and lifestyle and tie the store to those brands, mixed with local surf content. Supplier hashtags plus researched WA surf tags took it further.
Facebook got the same approach plus six months of low-budget ads. We also worked with a web designer to make the new website easier to use and better connected to social.
The result
In six months, Instagram grew from 542 to 1,733 followers and average likes per photo rose from 25 to 73. Facebook likes went from 157 to 1,098, and the ads delivered consistently high click-through to the website. Vidlers was left with a feed it could keep running itself.
The takeaway
Sometimes the best content is already in the building. The job is to use it with a plan.
